I’m Lisa, a 23-year-old freelancer. I’ve been blogging for well over 7 years and although it started as a hobby, it’s become something I’ve been so proud of over the last few years. I write about anything and everything from beauty reviews, hauls, disappointing products, fashion, food (that’s a given), adventures, holidays and so much more. Currently, we’re renovating our new Victorian home and it’s a great project so it’s worth coming along our journey. I live in Northamptonshire, but 20 minutes from Huntingdon, Peterborough and Northampton! I’m originally from Suffolk and have moved about a bit over the last few years. So, I’m very ready to enjoy married life in this spot for now! I hope you enjoy getting to know me a bit more and thank you to Louise for letting me guest blog today!
What fictional place would you most like to go?
Santas Grotto. Ok, so I guess I could go to the knock-off versions at the department stores during Christmas but wouldn’t be visiting Santa’s Grotto like in the movies be the best idea ever. If the elves and Santa were real then it would be fun to watch the operation. I think the film Arthur Christmas is how I picture it to be, some kind of military operation!
What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
I’d love to go on one of those holidays where you go from city to city in a few days within Europe. I know this is something you can easily do these days but I’d love an organised trip where you jet off every few days and get to do something new. I’m terrible with travelling in the sense that I love to travel but I’m not the type to bunk it up in a hostel. For me, part of the holiday is the hotel experience so I’d want to enjoy little snippets of luxury across Europe!
What’s your favourite drink?
If we’re talking soft drink, then always Pepsi Max. I shamefully live off the stuff and can’t go a day without it. It’s my absolute downfall. But if we’re talking alcoholic then you’ll happily find me drinking a mojito. A proper one, not just syrup but all the works, a sprig of mint an all!
What is something that is considered a luxury, but you don’t think you could live without?
Probably my MacBook Pro! I could have a normal cheaper windows computer but my MacBook is what has got me to this point in my career and I feel so lucky to own one!
How do you relax after a hard day of work?
I love to have a nice dinner, sit down and unwind with my husband Dan and catch up on our day. Then I’ll watch some tv, have a bath where I soak the day away, chocolate and reading in bed! I like to switch off from social media if I can too.
What is the most heartwarming thing you’ve ever seen?
Wow, this is a tough one. I can’t think of one memory but I love seeing old people in love. The type where even when they’re really old, the man will carry his wife’s bags and make sure she’s safe. I want that kind of marriage until the end!
What is one of your favourite smells?
I blooming love the smell of jasmine. I could live off the stuff. If you haven’t smelt Yankee Candles white jasmine then you need to. The nicest homely scent ever!
What do you take for granted?
My husband Dan. He absolutely puts me first over everything which at the moment I don’t even notice. However, he will do anything to make me happy. He puts his all into our life and home to give us the best life and I always take him for granted. Some days if I really don’t do well, he picks me back up and keeps me motivated to go again. For that, I salute him! I know I’m hard work!!
What’s the best and worst piece of advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice is ‘enjoy the good times because when it’s bad, you need to remember when it was good.’ This sounds brutal but Dan’s mum said this when we were planning our wedding. We had such a good year and it’s only when life gets stressful that you think you have it bad. Most often you’re having a blip and life is always good in the end.
The worst advice probably was when I was told to try a spray tan before the wedding. I looked like an absolute joke and even the lightest colour looked ridiculous. Never again!
