Hey! I’m Katie Lauren, a 19-year-old student and blogger from Nottingham, England. My blog is katie-lauren.blogs, over on there I post a huge range of things including fashion, beauty, lifestyle, university life, reviews and travel… a little bit of everything really! I’m studying Media and Communications at University in the hope to graduate and work in the social media marketing industry, I looove marketing my own blog content, reading statistics and engaging people in content. But for now, I just blog twice a week, travel, study and occasionally post videos on YouTube (typically travel vlogs).
Now you roughly know who I am, let’s get into the quirkier questions:
What fictional place would you most like to go?
I’d love to go to Rosewood, Pennsylvania where Pretty Little Liars is set.
What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
A trip around America, my ultimate dream is going on an American road trip. The places I want to visit the most in America are San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Seattle, Miami and Chicago. I’m always open to going to new places so would travel anywhere in the world and I’d see it as an amazing adventure.
What’s your favourite drink?
Dr Pepper, I am obsessed with it!
What is something that is considered a luxury, but you don’t think you could live without?
I’d probably say my MacBook, I used to think they were a luxury before I got one, I still think they are. But I honestly could not live without it now, I use it for everything, considering I run my blog page and the career I want to go into, it’s the best luxury item I could have.
How do you relax after a hard day of work?
Netflix or YouTube 100% I’m a sucker for watching YouTube videos, I love seeing how other people spend their life (some think its so sad but I find it super interesting, I created a blog post similar to this which went up the other week and was a great success: Universal Bloggers. I just love getting in bed and watching something to keep me distracted from thinking about ‘worky’ things.
What is the most heartwarming thing you’ve ever seen?
I visited Matlock, England a few years back with my friend. We went on cable cars up to the Heights of Abraham and there was a viewing point that we climbed up (it was a tower) we were just chatting looking at the view and the next minute we know there’s a proposal happening. This was the first time I’d seen a proposal in real life and although we didn’t have a clue who they were it was nice to be able to congratulate them and take a photo of them to share their special news as much as we were probably gate crashing them aha.
What is one of your favourite smells?
I use impulse sprays a lot and I tend to mix up which ones I have, because of this certain Impulse smells remind me of certain trips, I remember my trip to London in 2011 – it’s such an odd concept but I love it!
Who is your most interesting friend?
All of my friends are interesting, hence the reason why they’re my friends. I love hearing about their day and what they’re getting up to. Their successes make me happy and that’s all that matters, likewise, they all make me laugh which is what you look for in friends!
What do you take for granted?
Something I’ve realised I take for granted recently is the ability to drive and have a car. It’s not until you don’t have access to a car that you take for granted the ease of getting yourself from A to B without having to rely on other people or public transport. Ultimately, I’m grateful for my family and everything they have provided with me and continue to provide for me, giving me the best upbringing, I could’ve asked for. I think we all take our family for granted, not until Mother’s Day or Father’s Day do we show appreciation. When a florist brand asked to work with me, I knew straight away who I’d be gifting the flowers to… my mum. I have a whole blog post on showing appreciation that you can read here: A Token Of Appreciation | Prestige Flowers Collaboration.
What’s the best and worst piece of advice you’ve ever received?
I’m not sure if I have ever been given any awful advice, I’m such an indecisive person that I never just act on something straight away, I’m always weighing up pros and cons of situations. Likewise, if you have the correct people around you, you should never receive any terrible advice. As for the best advice, it’s situation specific but I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason which is amazing to remember in all situations.
